Storm Water
Management
Planning for the current study for storm water management in Blair County began in earnest in 2023, and stemmed from an action plan item in the county's hazard mitigation plan calling for a county-wide storm water management plan to assist with flood mitigation. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection mad funding available to Blair Planning to undertake the Phase I study (at left) in preparation of a full plan in 2025 and 2026.

The phase one study prepares the way for the full analysis, looking at the layout of the region, impacts development has on water (and vice-versa), as well as a framework for study topics, outreach, and potential projects to be considered in the main planning phase. These are included in the document to the left.

If funded, a full study will be undertaken in 2025 and 2026 with the assistance of a consulting engineering firm. Outreach information and updates will be posted to this page to keep the public and stakeholders informed of progress as well as any issues encountered and the direction the study is taking the county and its municipalities.
